You Will Be Missed

Unfortunately about two weeks ago, My lovely cat Spot passed away. Her kidney finally gave up on her and we had to put her down. I will post an abundance of pictures of her to bombard you all with later. She was a fantastic cat who loved us all in her own special ways. She will be dearly missed.

Birthday's and Baseball

Today is my Dad's birthday and for his birthday we went to a Detroit Tiger's game! It was a great game. Jim Leyland pitched the first pitch and was presented with a painting which everyone in the stadium got a copy of, our row won a dunkin' donuts thing, and the Tiger's won 9-3! On top of that, my dad and I got new hats! It was a beautiful day for a ball game, and a birthday. Happy Birthday dad!

The hats cost $30 a piece! What?!

After the game we went to Big Boy's and had dinner. It was a great day, and I had a lot of fun!

Not As Car-ismatic As I Used To Be.

I have been hearing a not-so-good noise in my car for about the past week now, so I decided to take it into the shop to see what it was. I wish I hadn't because when I was done, I was the one that needed fixing. It turns out that both of the front ball barrings in my car need to be changed along with both break pads, which will cost me around $722! If THAT wasn't bad enough, they found a myriad of other things that need to be fixed as well. Things that aren't broken now but will break soon. They gave us an estimate on what it would cost to fix it all at once. The estimate? $1,900! ! !

We are only going to focus on what needs to be fixed now, which are the ball barrings. However, there is talk of just getting a new car all together. Who knows. Either way, it sucks!

I'm super bummed about this for obvious reasons, but also because I've been trying to save up for the apartment. I have no idea how I'm going to save up for the apartment when I have a car that needs 2-grand worth of fixing?!

Follow Your Dreams

You see all of those inspirational quotes and videos. "Never give up on your dreams," "Never let anyone tell you that you can't do something," "Do it because you love it." I love those things, I think they're great, but they also make me kind of sad. I've never had any of those dreams. I've never had one thing that I want to go after and know that that's what I want to do forever because it makes me happy. I'm going to college now for something I enjoy, something that I can use anywhere, something that will allow me to move to a variety of places, and something that provides a good income; but, will it make me happy? I've been having a lot of doubts about my major lately and other aspects of my life and it's been hard. I have a long list of things I want to try, new things, but no money to try them.

I don't know if I'm happy with where I'm going.

Home Sweet Home

Tomorrow my friend and her family arrives home. And let me just tell you . . . I cannot wait. It has been.... and interesting week, and I hope that they enjoyed their vacation; however, I greatly miss the comfort of my bed, the warm and subtle hatred from my cat, watching t.v. without having to worry about breaking anything, and lastly not having to walk out into the cold to make sure a dog goes to the bathroom every night.

P.S.
My dad is in Ireland. WHAT?!

6 A.M., A Dog, and A Fire Alarm.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in awhile. This past week I have actually been house-sitting for a friend of mine and taking care of their animals (2 cats, a dog, and a goldfish). Two nights ago we had a brief but powerful storm here that unfortunately, knocked the power out in her house. I've made multiple stops at my house to pick up candles and other power outage supplies after burning through the candles they have here.

This morning, roughly, 6 A.M. The lights flickered on for a moment, then off, then back on and on they are seeming to stay.

This would be great news if the Fire Alarm didn't turn on with the power.

Twice, the fire alarm beeped for a short period then stopped.

Unfortunately for me, My friend is still in Mexico and sound asleep so thus all of my questions and messages go unanswered for now.

Lets just hope the fire alarm stays off, and the lights stay on.

Lyrical Grammar

I was listening to the radio today and a song came on with the chorus that sang "We can run them red lights"; and, it hit me. Why is it necessary to use incorrect grammar in music? If they had sang "We can run those red lights" It would be grammatically correct with the same amount of syllables. So, why not?

I Forgot How To School

I recently got back from visiting Brandon for spring break and let me tell you. I forgot how to school. It was strange having to get directly back into my normal routine. That routine including looking for a job. Job applications are tedious and i do not enjoy them at all.

School is going alright though. If all goes well, I should be graduating in only 4 semesters! It sounds like a short period of time, but each semester is about 3 months! I'm a bit nervous honestly. There's still a lot to do before graduation and I'm nervous I won't be able to make it in my field. My field requires a lot of memorization and has quite a few rules both grammatical and ethical and memory has never been a strong suite of mine. I'm nervous I won't be very good at my career, if I make it that far at all. I still have my Bachelors Degree to get so I still have some time to work on it.

Brandon and I are thinking now about waiting on getting an apartment. We're thinking about having him Dorm for the year while I finish out school and then we can move to the town where I'm getting my BA. The college Brandon is going to has a campus down near that town. It will hopefully help us save some money.

I Was Not The Winner Of "Prints Charming's" Heart

A few posts back, I mentioned that I was entering a contest at http://www.modcloth.com/. The contest name was "Make the Cut: 'Prints' Charming". I was informed today that none of my submissions made the cut. I'm quite disappointed as I was very excited at the opportunity. However, I am glad that I tried.

On March 3rd, 3/3/14, the final 10 dresses that do make it will be opened to what Modcloth names "Be the Buyer" in which the community can vote on the dresses and ultimately choose the winner. I plan on voting and am excited to see the dress designs that made it. I encourage you to check them out! Again, the dresses won't be available to vote on until March 3rd, however, they do have other dresses constantly open to vote on and they can all be found here http://www.modcloth.com/storefront/products/be_the_buyer

PCOS

So for the past few years now, I have actually been having some menstrual problems, (I know this is all what you wanted to read today), and I have been to the doctor before to try and figure out what was going on and tried different things, but today, I finally went to the Gynecologist. I found out I actually have something called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. My gynecologist is putting me on something to regulate my menstrual cycle for now, however, one of the problems that come with PCOS is difficulty conceiving later on in life.

When I went in today I was extremely worried I was going to be told that I couldn't have children. I'm very relieved to find out that that is not the case.

That being said, there's basically three options.

1. I can have children with no problem.
2. I require medical assistance whenever I want to have children

or

3. I can't have children.

While I'm relieved that I still have a chance, I'm still not sure what will happen. I am glad, though, that I finally know what is going on with my body.

P.S.
I really want to have a baby girl someday.

Modcloth Contest

Hey Guys!

I'm super excited. Why? Great Question!

One of my favorite websites, Modcloth ( http://www.modcloth.com/ ) Which is an online vintage clothing store and more, is putting on a contest! The contest is for anyone who wants to submit a new design for a dress. They provide the template and you have to come up with the print. Whoever wins receives a free dress with their pattern, Modcloth will sell the winning design (with your name on the label) and the winner even receives $500!

I'm excited because I'm going to submit some designs. I'm not sure if I'm going to win, I'm not getting my hopes too high, but, I'm excited because I'm trying.

On top of all of this, Brandon is coming up on the 12th and staying until the 17th! I can't wait to see him again. It's been just about 2 months since I saw him last. It is extremely hard and painful not to see him for so long. He makes me happy.

For Valentines day we're thinking about going to the Planetarium, the Museum, and then out for dinner. What do you think?

'Till next time!

Tips From A College Bookstore Cashier #3

Tip from a College Bookstore Cashier: #3. If you are using Financial Aid, Student Loans, or any other payment that isn't Cash, Credit/Debit, or Check, then Have your Student I.D. and Picture I.D. ready and out when you reach the cashiers. Especially on days when the line is extremely long. If you're standing there for 30 minutes, why not just get it out? If you are using anything but Cash, Credit/Debit, or Check we are required to see both before finishing the transaction, so we have to wait for you to get them out no matter what. Not only are we required, we physically cannot finish the transaction without them. Make it easier on yourself, the cashier, and everyone waiting in line behind you by just having them out.

Tips from a College Bookstore Cashier #2

I had a customer come up to me with giant headphones around her neck and music blaring and as I started to talk she stopped me and said "huh? I can't hear you" and continued to leave her music on as I raised MY voice to talk to her. My second tip, is to please, please, please, for the ease of any cashier and yourself, turn off music, take out headphones, and do not be on your phone. It's easier, and everyone hears everything.

Tips from a College Bookstore Cashier #1

Tips from someone who works at the college bookstore, #1 Do not, DO NOT, wait until the first day of class to get your books. You will always have at least 1 week after classes start to return your books for the full refund and I guarantee you the return line is a lot shorter than the line for purchasing books.

Winter Woes

I have been working at the college bookstore again this semester, and, just like last semester, I love it. They have been giving me more responsibility which makes me feel great and I've been really excited for it. This week I was supposed to work 8 hours Monday-Friday. A full-time shift! I would be working 37 hours! On top of being trusted with that responsibility I was excited for the money I would be able to make and save for the apartment.

Unfortunately, due to the horrible weather we've just received (2 feet of snow, -20 degree wind-chills, etc.), the college, therefore my job, got cancelled for today, tomorrow, AND Wednesday!

I'm so bummed!

I'm alright with not having to stand on my feet for 8 hours in shoes that have absolutely no support; but, I am very upset that I don't get to save up the money I would have gotten. I really needed it.

Growin' Up

It's high time for another post! I'm really bad at this guys, sorry.

Brandon and I are getting an apartment! Don't worry, not right now; but, in about 4-6 months! After he finishes up with school Brandon will be moving up here to Michigan. He already has a college picked out that he is super excited for. We've looked at and visited a few places already and we have found one that we are really excited about. I still have yet to call to put us on the wait-list and we still have a lot to figure out until then but we can't wait.

I'm growin' up Guys.

It's time I get out on my own and start growing. I'm very nervous for it but I know it will be good for me. My brother was always extremely independent. The second he had the chance he went away for college and from there found a job that was again, away from us. He's always known what he's wanted and how to take care of himself. I am the opposite. I've relied heavily on the help of my parents. I'm not nearly as independent as he was but I'd like to be. I'm excited for the responsibility, the independence, and being able to be with Brandon more than once a month. I'm excited to grow. I'm also equally as nervous for all of those things but, that's just the territory.

P.S.
Did I mention we get to paint our apartment?!
