Tips From A College Bookstore Cashier #3

Tip from a College Bookstore Cashier: #3. If you are using Financial Aid, Student Loans, or any other payment that isn't Cash, Credit/Debit, or Check, then Have your Student I.D. and Picture I.D. ready and out when you reach the cashiers. Especially on days when the line is extremely long. If you're standing there for 30 minutes, why not just get it out? If you are using anything but Cash, Credit/Debit, or Check we are required to see both before finishing the transaction, so we have to wait for you to get them out no matter what. Not only are we required, we physically cannot finish the transaction without them. Make it easier on yourself, the cashier, and everyone waiting in line behind you by just having them out.

Tips from a College Bookstore Cashier #2

I had a customer come up to me with giant headphones around her neck and music blaring and as I started to talk she stopped me and said "huh? I can't hear you" and continued to leave her music on as I raised MY voice to talk to her. My second tip, is to please, please, please, for the ease of any cashier and yourself, turn off music, take out headphones, and do not be on your phone. It's easier, and everyone hears everything.

Tips from a College Bookstore Cashier #1

Tips from someone who works at the college bookstore, #1 Do not, DO NOT, wait until the first day of class to get your books. You will always have at least 1 week after classes start to return your books for the full refund and I guarantee you the return line is a lot shorter than the line for purchasing books.

Winter Woes

I have been working at the college bookstore again this semester, and, just like last semester, I love it. They have been giving me more responsibility which makes me feel great and I've been really excited for it. This week I was supposed to work 8 hours Monday-Friday. A full-time shift! I would be working 37 hours! On top of being trusted with that responsibility I was excited for the money I would be able to make and save for the apartment.

Unfortunately, due to the horrible weather we've just received (2 feet of snow, -20 degree wind-chills, etc.), the college, therefore my job, got cancelled for today, tomorrow, AND Wednesday!

I'm so bummed!

I'm alright with not having to stand on my feet for 8 hours in shoes that have absolutely no support; but, I am very upset that I don't get to save up the money I would have gotten. I really needed it.

Growin' Up

It's high time for another post! I'm really bad at this guys, sorry.

Brandon and I are getting an apartment! Don't worry, not right now; but, in about 4-6 months! After he finishes up with school Brandon will be moving up here to Michigan. He already has a college picked out that he is super excited for. We've looked at and visited a few places already and we have found one that we are really excited about. I still have yet to call to put us on the wait-list and we still have a lot to figure out until then but we can't wait.

I'm growin' up Guys.

It's time I get out on my own and start growing. I'm very nervous for it but I know it will be good for me. My brother was always extremely independent. The second he had the chance he went away for college and from there found a job that was again, away from us. He's always known what he's wanted and how to take care of himself. I am the opposite. I've relied heavily on the help of my parents. I'm not nearly as independent as he was but I'd like to be. I'm excited for the responsibility, the independence, and being able to be with Brandon more than once a month. I'm excited to grow. I'm also equally as nervous for all of those things but, that's just the territory.

P.S.
Did I mention we get to paint our apartment?!
