Tips From A College Bookstore Cashier #3
Tip from a College Bookstore Cashier: #3. If you are using Financial Aid, Student Loans, or any other payment that isn't Cash, Credit/Debit, or Check, then Have your Student I.D. and Picture I.D. ready and out when you reach the cashiers. Especially on days when the line is extremely long. If you're standing there for 30 minutes, why not just get it out? If you are using anything but Cash, Credit/Debit, or Check we are required to see both before finishing the transaction, so we have to wait for you to get them out no matter what. Not only are we required, we physically cannot finish the transaction without them. Make it easier on yourself, the cashier, and everyone waiting in line behind you by just having them out.

Tips from a College Bookstore Cashier #2
I had a customer come up to me with giant headphones around her neck and music blaring and as I started to talk she stopped me and said "huh? I can't hear you" and continued to leave her music on as I raised MY voice to talk to her. My second tip, is to please, please, please, for the ease of any cashier and yourself, turn off music, take out headphones, and do not be on your phone. It's easier, and everyone hears everything.

Tips from a College Bookstore Cashier #1
Tips from someone who works at the college bookstore, #1 Do not, DO NOT, wait until the first day of class to get your books. You will always have at least 1 week after classes start to return your books for the full refund and I guarantee you the return line is a lot shorter than the line for purchasing books.

Winter Woes
I have been working at the college bookstore again this semester, and, just like last semester, I love it. They have been giving me more responsibility which makes me feel great and I've been really excited for it. This week I was supposed to work 8 hours Monday-Friday. A full-time shift! I would be working 37 hours! On top of being trusted with that responsibility I was excited for the money I would be able to make and save for the apartment.
Unfortunately, due to the horrible weather we've just received (2 feet of snow, -20 degree wind-chills, etc.), the college, therefore my job, got cancelled for today, tomorrow, AND Wednesday!
I'm so bummed!
I'm alright with not having to stand on my feet for 8 hours in shoes that have absolutely no support; but, I am very upset that I don't get to save up the money I would have gotten. I really needed it.

Growin' Up
It's high time for another post! I'm really bad at this guys, sorry.
Brandon and I are getting an apartment! Don't worry, not right now; but, in about 4-6 months! After he finishes up with school Brandon will be moving up here to Michigan. He already has a college picked out that he is super excited for. We've looked at and visited a few places already and we have found one that we are really excited about. I still have yet to call to put us on the wait-list and we still have a lot to figure out until then but we can't wait.
I'm growin' up Guys.
It's time I get out on my own and start growing. I'm very nervous for it but I know it will be good for me. My brother was always extremely independent. The second he had the chance he went away for college and from there found a job that was again, away from us. He's always known what he's wanted and how to take care of himself. I am the opposite. I've relied heavily on the help of my parents. I'm not nearly as independent as he was but I'd like to be. I'm excited for the responsibility, the independence, and being able to be with Brandon more than once a month. I'm excited to grow. I'm also equally as nervous for all of those things but, that's just the territory.
P.S.
Did I mention we get to paint our apartment?!

Under Blanket Snuggles
I suppose an update is in order. Spot is still alive and kickin'; however, about a week ago she started acting funny again so we took her back to the vet and discovered her levels are a little bit elevated. In order to help bring her levels back down we now have to give her an IV drip everyday. Since we've been giving her that she's been eating, playing, and being very active. All of which are great signs, so I'm very happy about that!
I've found that she has also been very affectionate which i LOVE. Upon finding out her levels were elevated I moved an old mattress I have and settled in upstairs where I've slept for about a week now. It allowed me to easily watch her when my parents were in bed to make sure she was acting normally, nothing went wrong, and to overall observe her. Also, i liked spending time with her. We share this moment my best friend likes to call "Under Blanket Snuggles" which entails Spot crawling under my blanket and sleeping against my leg, or in between my legs, or however I'm positioned and will stay there for quite some time. Along with that Spot would come over and lay beside me and purr and just ask for attention she normally doesn't receive with my parents in bed and her not liking my room. My room is in the basement near the furnace (which isn't the quietest) so she doesn't visit much. When she does visit, it isn't for very long.
Tonight, with Spot doing so well, I had to move back into my room and I found myself feeling very disappointed and sad. I'm really going to miss being able to spend time with her. Given that I'm the only one awake late at night she relies on me for night-time attention and with me in my room we no longer have that. I'm really going to miss it.
I'll try to add some more Pictures soon. I know I haven't been updating much, I'm sorry! At least you can always depend on me being undependable?
Yeah.. That's comforting. Till next time!

Spot
So, I'm pretty sure I have told you guys before that I have a cat named Spot. I love her very much. Last Wednesday Spot got sick. She was sleeping all day, acting frightened when we got near her. It was scary. So last Thursday we took her to the vet. It turns out Spots' kidneys are failing. We left her there Thursday and picked her up Monday morning. The vets flushed her system of all of her toxins and she is now on a new food regiment among other things. Hopefully this will make her better for a long time but ultimately her kidney failure will come back. I'm hoping when that happens I will have the means to try and help her again. She has improved a lot since we dropped her off at the vet last Thursday but she is still sick. She has lost a lot of weight and she is still quite lethargic but we are seeing glimpses of her old self. I have hope that she will continue to improve.
In honor of her, and me needing pictures for my Photography class, Here are some pictures of my beautiful Bugaboo, Spot.
P.S. She has never really liked being my photography subject, and it was nice to see that she still doesn't.

So Uh... This is Becoming my M.O. Isn't It?
Whew. It's uh... It's been awhile. Sorry about that.
The job at the bookstore was temporary so I no longer work there. However! I do have an interview with someplace tomorrow! So I'm very excited about that, here's hoping.
My parents and I went to a concert last Sunday that was fantastic! It was Sarah Groves, Andrew Peterson, and Bebo Norman. They were all incredible. At the concert was also a company called Compassion International. I will post a link to their website below. What they are is a company who helps sponsor less fortunate children around the world for around $38 a month. It helps pay for education, shoes, and bible school. I will be helping my parents sponsor a little girl named Lariza who lives in Guatemala. She is 5 years old and she is adorable. I'm very excited about that as well.
I am still continuing to go to college for Interpreting studies. The classes are starting to get a bit harder but that's to be expected. I hope everything goes well and I can stay on the Deans list. Speaking of! I don't think i told you guys but I'm on the Deans list at my college! I have been maintaining a 3.8 GPA each semester and I'm so friggen happy about that!
I'm sure I have LOTS more to talk to you guys about but I have to for now so, until next time!
P.S. In my second to last post i told you guys i have a lot of pictures to show you, and i do. I will get them up as soon as I can.
P.P.S. Here is the link to Compassion International
